Speak the Truth

This is the third message in a sermon series entitled 'Choosing our Words Carefully'. This message is based on Scripture found in Ephesians 4:25-32. In these verses we will be reminded how powerful our words can be! How many times have we learned the hard way, that careless words can cause division? Our world today is searching for hope and peace, let our words today help lead them home. Wouldn't it be nice if the whole world could learn a brand new language of love. 

A Mother's Heart

This is a mother's day message based on Scripture found in 2 Kings 4:8-24. Here we meet a woman who is over flowing with compassion and is blessed by God with a miraculous baby boy. Just like every good mother; she loves this child, cares for him, and does all to protect him. This mother shows amazing strength and a deep abiding faith even in the midst of great pain. She and all the moms deserve to be honored for all their amazing gifts of service, everyone wrapped in God's love.

Timeless Testimony

This message was preached on Senior Appreciation Sunday and is based on Scripture found in Psalm 71:15-21. We are so thankful for the multiple contributions these faithful servants have made to the work in the kingdom of God and the ministries at First Baptist Lithonia. They have a lifetime of experiences that we can all learn from. They have lessons to share that can help shape our lives. And most importantly they have left us a legacy of solid faith that we would be wise to follow. Let us make time to listen and learn wisdom from these heroes of the faith!

Words of Blessing

This is the second message in a three part sermon series entitled 'Choosing our words Carefully', based on Scripture found in James 3:9-12. Here we are reminded that are very words can be viewed as an offering to God. How important it is that we offer Him our very best, because he is worthy of a pure sacrifice. Don't let ugly words contaminate what the Lord desires. Words of encouragement and hope are especially needed today and are always a beautiful offering to God. May we speak words of blessing whenever we have an opportunity.

Potion or Poison

In these next two sermons we will be reminded how powerful our words can be. This message comes from Scripture found in James 3:1-8 and will definitely challenge us all to think before we speak. Today we will discover that we are called to take responsibility for our words. Secondly our tongues can be used to build up or tear down. Finally we will be reminded that apart from the presence of God working in our lives, our words will only bring pain and division. Are we ready to ask for help and to let our words be used for God's glory?

Worship the King

This message was delivered on Palm Sunday and is based on Scripture found in Matthew 21:1-11. Here we will discover that the first way we show a true heart of worship is through obedience. Secondly we can see that the Lord desires believers that are committed and are faithful to worship him in both good and seemingly bad times. Finally let us be reminded that Jesus is always worthy of our complete devotion and worship. Are we ready to sing Hallelujah to our risen Lord? 

Peace be Still

This is a sermon that was preached just as Covid-19 really started to affect our church and community. This message was based on Scripture found in Matthew 8:23-27. We were reminded that storms of life can come quickly without any warning. Although difficulties are a scary part of life we can choose how we respond to them. The great news for the family of God; if Jesus is in your boat there is no reason to fear! Let the storms draw us each closer to the loving arms of our Savior.

Called to be Fruitful

This is the last message of a sermon series on Discipleship, called 'Marks of a Disciple'. This topic is all about being a fruitful Christian and focuses on a powerful passage found in John 15:1-8. First we will discover that only true branches are capable of producing wonderful life changing fruit. Secondly we will see that apart from total dependence in the Lord that it is impossible to produce anything of real value. Finally we will see the amazing joy and satisfaction of being faithful and allowing God to work through our surrendered lives. Let's fill our world with eternal joy! 

The Cost of Discipleship

This is the third message in a sermon series entitled 'Marks of a Disciple', based on Scripture found in Luke 9:57-62. Many times when we think about following Jesus we only think about all the blessings, but leave out the responsibilities. Today we will meet three would be followers that were not willing to lay aside their worldly treasure, time, and comforts to serve the Lord. Jesus wants true devoted servants that are willing to take up their cross and follow Him. Are you ready to say Yes to Jesus?

Walk with the Master

This is the second message in a new sermon series entitled 'Marks of a Disciple', based on Scripture found in Matthew 11:28-30. The Lord invites us all to come to Him with saving faith. He asks us to come learn from him daily lessons that will radically transform our lives. As we walk with him and learn from him we will discover what true life is all about. Our lives will be filled with adventure and joy that we all long for. Are you ready to walk with the Master?
